The idea for a story finally broke through. Here's a quickly-edited, hardly-revised first chapter of the story. It's supposed to be vague. Deal with it.

Chapter 1: Observation )

chelsea told me i should write this down. it's pretty...weird.

okay, to understand this you need some backstory on the people.

kelly and kristin are two of my friends from school.
reilly is this ten year old i play golf with sometimes.

okay. here goes.

me and my family were sitting in my front yard. it was like, technicolor. my grass was really green and everything was really bright. but anyway. reilly walks up to my house and starts talking to me. she was like, "my mom wants you to babysit me today."

so i was like, "hey mom. can i go babysit reilly?" and my mom was cool with it. so me and reilly got into this car that had magically appeared. it hadn't been there before. she got in the driver's seat, and for some reason, i didn't find this strange. she started driving. she was a really bad driver, but no one else on the road seemed to notice that A, she definitely wasn't sixteen, or B, that she was a hazard on the road.

so we park at this bar called players. it's from a tv show i think, but i don't know which one. anyway, we go inside and a bunch of my school friends are there, including kelly and kristin. there was this huge table, kinda la vie boheme-esque, and everyone was eating there. after we all ate, we decided to go walk across all the rooftops. apparently, it was suddenly night and we were suddenly in downtown st. louis.
so reilly stayed with some of my friends and kristin, kelly and i went rooftop-walking. somewhere along the line kristin ran ahead.

so later on me and kelly were walking arm and arm across all the roofs and suddenly we find kristin sitting on the ground, crying and bleeding horribly. she was shot, or stabbed, or something. i quickly called the police. then a person's shadow passed over us but we didn't seem to notice. reilly suddenly found me, and while kelly stayed with kristin, i left with reilly. we went back to her house.

when we got there, reilly's mom said, "well, finally you guys are home!" i looked at a clock in the entry way and it said 12:30 PM. it seemed to be generally accepted that i was to stay the night. everyone went into the kitchen, except me. i stayed in the entry way. all of the sudden there was a tap-tap on the door. i looked through the peephole and there was a girl with a really weird-looking gun.

she yelled, "I'M GOING TO GET IN WHETHER YOU LET ME IN OR NOT!" i freaked and opened the door. she came in and looked around. suddenly, my brother, nick, was sitting in the dining room eating a cereal bar. the person who i now registered to be the rooftop lurker went up to him and shot my brother. except she didn't. when she pulled the trigger, no sound was made, no bullet was fired, and my brother just sat there calmly, after he was "shot" at point-blank range. the lurker went into the kitchen and "shot" reilly's dad. the same thing happened -- no sound, no bullet. then the lurker left.  then everyone went upstairs to the bedrooms. i went into reilly's room and both soon fell asleep.

that's when the dream ended. i woke up really spooked, i was afraid to fall asleep again. i dunno what this dream was about, but it's the first dream i remember this vividly since third or fourth grade. any thoughts?
